London in the Swinging Sixties. A parade of shops. A grumbling bus queue.An all-night diner (Flo’s Kitchen). A church and homeless hostel.
Mods and Rockers cause chaos, until they are reformed by the Vicar who has become a guru on Mary’s insistence (‘Get with it, Vicar’). Pimlico Mary is a street scavenger and wheeler-dealer. She sells bric-a-brac from the large pram she wheels about, and meets Simon, the son she gave up for adoption when he was a baby. He has autism, but she tries to get him talking.
Chelsea Pensioners remember the day they signed up for the war in 1914. Ram Jam has arrived from India and set up an authentic Indian restaurant, which is wrecked by Mods and Rockers in dispute. They repair it after meeting the Vicar dressed up as a guru. George is a retired greengrocer, and woos Bessie, his secret love from long ago. Winston the bus inspector tries to placate the impatient passengers from his kiosk, and the bus turns up at the end, when everybody has gone home.
